Join Nu Civilisation Orchestra and up to 60 young music stars of the future for a spectacular show to mark the centenary year of the birth of six Giants of JazzElla Fitzgerald, Dizzy Gillespie, Mongo Santamaria, Thelonious Monk, Tadd Dameron and Buddy Rich.

Award-winning pianist and composer, Peter Edwards leads the sensational Nu Civilisation Orchestra in an evening filled with exhilarating classic big band sounds and the specially-commissioned: A Journey with the Giants of Jazz.

Though these Giants of Jazz are now gone, their enduring music gains new life through the stellar performances of almost 600 young people taking part in The Jazz Ticket nationwide music programme. Taking motifs from this music as his starting point, Edwards melds them into a sizzling new jazz piece to be enjoyed by music lovers of all ages, from 8 to 80!

The Jazz Ticket is a nationwide music programme generously supported by Arts Council England National Lottery funds to enable more people to enjoy and engage with music and the arts. The Jazz Ticket tour is produced by Tomorrow's Warriors and has been devised in partnership with Turner Sims and Southampton Music Hub.  

A Journey with the Giants of Jazz by Peter Edwards is commissioned by Turner Sims with generous support from PRS for Music Foundation New Music Biennial and receives its World Premiere on 16 March 2017.
