THE JAZZ TICKET | National Finale

The Jazz Ticket London is set to open at Queen Elizabeth Hall in the Front Room at 4pm on Sunday 29 April with our wonderful performers from last year’s nationwide music education and concert tour programme.

Young musicians from Manchester, Humberside, Southampton, Luton, Brighton and Loughborough will show what they have achieved since their experience of the Jazz Ticket and will participate once again in celebrating the music of the six centenary Giants of Jazz; Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzy Gillespie, Mongo Santamaria, Thelonious Monk, Tadd Dameron and Buddy Rich. 

The event continues at 6pm with The London Jazz Ticket concert featuring local London schools taking part for the first time, followed by Tomorrow’s Warriors flagship professional ensemble the Nu Civilisation Orchestra presenting a spectacular Finale concert -  featuring some of the finest jazz musicians of the moment,  playing pieces by the Jazz greats as well as a new commission from Turner Sims, ‘A Journey with the Giants of Jazz’ by Peter Edwards generously supported by PRS for Music Foundation's New Music Biennial. With special guest Soweto Kinch.

The Jazz Ticket has been delivered in partnership with music hubs, venues and schools nationwide with generous support from Arts Council England's Strategic Touring Fund.

The Jazz Ticket is suitable for jazz fans of all ages (recommended 8+). Bring your family and friends, and get set for the musical ride and journey with the Giants of Jazz!

The Jazz Ticket is a nationwide music programme generously supported by Arts Council England National Lottery funds to enable more people to enjoy and engage with music and the arts. The Jazz Ticket tour is produced by Tomorrow's Warriors and has been devised in partnership with Turner Sims and Southampton Music Hub.  

A Journey with the Giants of Jazz by Peter Edwards is commissioned by Turner Sims with generous support from PRS for Music Foundation New Music Biennial and receives its World Premiere on 16 March 2017.
